Turbo Pic©: Shooting Through
I'm not talking about leaving the country for an undisclosed amount of time. Shooting Through, is a handy way you can draw attention to your main subject, add context and even hide or minimise some distracting picture elements.
Barry Smith, the Chief photographer at the Northern Daily Leader newspaper in Tamworth, first solidified this shooting concept in my head, while on work experience with him, back in the days of film & darkrooms.
In the example pic, an 18mm wide angle lens, was used up close on the mechanics ring spanner to "Shoot Through", and frame his face. The out of focus ring spanner also helps to say mechanic.
